Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.
If you would be interested in taking over this link-up, please let me know! I've loved hosting you, but because my youngest has graduated and my schedule is changing, I would love to pass the baton to someone else.

With Christmas and so much else this week, I've decided that maybe it would be okay to post a Homeschool Highlights weekly summary a day late. After all, few of us did any homeschooling this week, am I right?
This week's news . . . What an exciting week! We had quite a few things to check off our to-do list on Friday and Saturday, including an eye doctor appointment and some last minute shopping. Fortunately all the Christmas shopping was completed and everything wrapped in time!
Our son and his family arrived on Saturday afternoon and we were so excited to see them! Our lovely little granddaughter is three years old now and such a delight!
Our family led worship on Sunday morning, and Kennady and I stayed for a little bit after service to practice for the Christmas Eve service. I thought I'd have to make lunch when we got home, but everyone had already helped themselves, which was fine with me. All the kids played video games in the afternoon while the hubster and I napped, and in the evening we went to the National Zoo to see the ZooLights display. All the traffic and finding parking . . . quite a challenge, but the light display was really very good. It was a chilly night, but not too frigid, and we all enjoyed the evening out.
I wasn't super thrilled that I had to work on Monday, because I would have loved to spend more time with Veronica and the rest of the family. We had a good evening together though and Tuesday - Christmas Eve - we did have plenty of time together. We had our Christmas dinner fairly early on Tuesday, so that Kennady and I had time to eat and still get to the church for the service. My sister-in-law and her husband arrived on Christmas Eve as well, so we had a full house for the holiday!
On Thursday evening we also celebrated my birthday with dinner out at one of my favorite restaurants, Buca di Beppo.

Christmas morning!! We got up early so that we could open our presents and have a big Christmas breakfast before Harrison and family had to head home.
Rest of Christmas Day was relaxed and we spent time playing games together in the evening. And then these two . . . on Boxing Day they wanted to do a follow-up picture in the same spirit as an iconic photo from last year.

After work on Friday, I got home to enjoy the Buca leftovers for dinner (we ordered too much food!) and then watched movies all evening.
What I'm Highlighting . . . some holiday themed posts from Homeschool Coffee Break that I hope you'll enjoy again.

And on my book blog, Just A Second:
Scripture and a Snapshot - Joseph, Son of David
Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I've been reading:
Penny For Your Secrets by Anna Lee Huber
Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
Tiny Tim and the Ghost of Ebenezer Scrooge by Norman Whaler

A parting shot . . . Murphy the Dinosaur has gone to his new home with little Vee, and I've got to admit we'll miss him around here!

Homeschool Highlights guidelines:
- Your blog should be family-friendly content, and your post should include something about homeschooling. If I don't see homeschooling in it, I might have to delete the link, and I feel bad when I need to do that.
- Please link directly to your post, not your blog's homepage.
- Please include a link in your post to Homeschool Coffee Break - you may use the graphic above if you wish.
- Visit a couple of the other bloggers and comment or share.
