Five Minute Friday - Now

One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is the idea behind Five Minute Friday and this is today's free-writing post.

in the here and now

Some days I have to remember to focus on what I can do right now and be present in this moment. There are things in the past that I wish I could change or wish I could relive, but that's not possible. I'd drive myself crazy if I keep looking at the future and obsess about what might happen. I don't need that worry and stress. I don't want to let myself worry about it.

Because right now I have everything I need. Right now my whole family is healthy. my husband and kids are here at home and we're together. It won't be long and one of the boys will get married and move out. It's entirely possible that our daughter will go away to school just over a year from now. We might have our empty nest in the not too distant future, and it might happen sort of all at once. All kinds of changes could happen. Things we can anticipate and other things that will surprise us.

But right NOW we are here and although this moment won't last forever, I can enjoy the blessings I have right now.

Be happy in the moment, that's enough. Each moment is all we need, not more. ~Mother Teresa

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called the present. ~Alice Morse Earle

If He could bring back from the dead
that corpsed daughter of Jairus,
then Big J (standing on His head!)
could make short work of virus.
That He has not done so yet
means not that He's not willing;
I have got a sneaky bet
that in this He is fulfilling
the promise that He'll heed our prayers
and make this world a better place,
but we have to be aware
that needed was severest grace
to give us pause for reflection,
and then, in faith a new direction.
