Mistake

One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is an extra 10 Day Writing Prompt Challenge from Five Minute Friday. From March 2nd to March 11th, those of us who took part wrote for five minutes each day on this set of prompts.

Although I wrote each day, I didn't publish each day. This is what I wrote on Day Nine, prompted by the word "mistake".

*******************
an honest mistake
everyone makes mistakes

So many times I wish I could have had a do-over. I made a mistake, a miscalculation, over-reacted, or even realized afterwards that something I'd said may have given a wrong impression. and I wish I could do it over again and fix it. Say the right thing instead of something dumb. Recognize a danger or a problem earlier so I could react better or stop something bad from happening.

We all make mistakes all the time, and no one is exempt. Many times they are honest mistakes. Nothing malicious intended. But they haunt us all the same, as we regret our failures or wonder "what if . . . ?"

We can be thankful that God sees and knows and can use even our mistakes and the times we crash and burn for our good. He promises that he can work things out for our good. Sometimes that means we have to own up to our mistakes, and ask forgiveness before good or growth can come from it. And hopefully we learn from those mistakes and don't keep making the same ones!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ~Romans 8:28

All men make mistakes, but only wise men learn from their mistakes ~Winston Churchill

Mistakes, obviously, show us what needs improving. Without mistakes, how would we know what we had to work on? ~Peter McWilliams

Thanks to Five Minute Friday for the prompts and the encouragement, as well as a link-up where we can share.
