October Photo Album

We had a lot of fun things planned for the month of October, and although not all of them worked out, we did have a good time. Near the beginning of the month, the hubster and I took a vacation day and went to Kentuck Knob, which is a Frank Lloyd Wright house about three hours from us. It is privately owned, but is open for tours. We took the in-depth tour of the house and it was so interesting!

There's also a sculpture collection on the grounds that includes British telephone booths and a couple of slabs from the Berlin Wall.

And now, the house - or at least the outside of it:

The view was gorgeous, and my photo doesn't really do it justice at all.

We also spent a bit of time at nearby Ohiopyle State Park, which looks like a great place to explore when we have more time!

Fall is officially here, with cooler weather and colorful foliage.

In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October - or when Columbus Day (or whatever you call it now that it has other names) is on the American calendar. Most of us work on Mondays, so we had our family Canadian Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday instead. Deep fried turkey with all the trimmings, and of course, we included some friends and had our usual silly family photo.

This low quality photo is included here because I was very excited to have blue jays checking out our bird feeder. Four at a time, on this occasion, plus a cardinal. And that was with the feeder being down to its last few seeds!

Time for my favorite Halloween special - The Raven, as presented by The Simpsons!

Another annual tradition is Kennady's romantic photo with the Target store skeleton.

A couple days later, the skeleton appeared to be stalking me at work. Or maybe he was just waiting for his wife to do a bit of shopping.
