One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is the idea behind Five Minute Friday and this is today's free-writing post.

take it easy
easy street
no easy answers

********************
I like when things are easy and straightforward. It doesn't seem like many things come that easily in today's world though. The world is a complicated place, but I wonder if the complications are mostly because we don't live the way God told us to. We try to do it our way and we think we're so so smart, but when we step outside of God's plan, we mess it all up.

Usually when we start by listening to God's instructions, things go better and easier.

Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step. ~Lao Tzu

Sometimes what is hard is having the courage and conviction to do the right thing. It might be easy enough to know what should have been done, but no easy thing to figure out how it can be set right once our sin has jacked it up.

There are no easy answers, but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right. ~Ronald Reagan

We are only responsible for our own choice though. So perhaps the easy answer is that I need to make sure I do the right thing. You need to make sure you do the right thing. We each need to bring up our kids to know the right thing and to do it. It will be easier for them if they see us doing it and have been taught how to make the right choices from an early age. And hopefully the more people there are doing the right thing, the easier it will be.

Many of the answers we seek to life's questions are easy to find. It makes sense when we know where to look and when we are willing to listen and learn. Start with God's Word. When the truths there are hard to understand or hard to apply, ask the Holy Spirit for more wisdom and understanding.

All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them. ~Galileo Galilei

The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none,
but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.
~Proverbs 14:6~

Some really interesting quote to mull over there and not necessarily the obvious ones - thank you.

it's very true, we can only do the right thing ourselves and encourage others to do the same. We aren't responsible for their decisions.

I thought life would be simple
from when it did begin;
I'd trade upon the manly dimple
that God placed in my chin.
That, and steely crinkled eyes
would take me where I longed to be,
but to my dismayed surprise,
there was more 'twas sought from me,
like character and gumption,
and a touch (really!) of class,
and understanding functions
that were taught in calculus,
and if this truly was God's bidding,
my reply: "You MUST be kidding!"

I love this post, Kym. So many good reminders, including this one: We are only responsible for our own choice though. So perhaps the easy answer is that I need to make sure I do the right thing. Had to make some hard choices this week, the right thing to do but so hard. Now needing to remember that I am only responsible for my own choices. Thanks for sharing.
