It's not quite the end of the month, but it's a good time to reflect and choose Something Loved, Something Gleaned, Something Saved and Something Achieved from among the many great things that have been happening this summer!

Something Loved

Something loved is SOMEONE loved! A couple of weeks ago we welcomed a new granddaughter! We all love little Aubrey so much, and I'm loving the fact that we get to see her so often!

Something Gleaned

I always learn something from The Bible Project podcasts. And the videos, and the show notes, and all their materials. I've been listening to the podcasts for awhile but it was hard to keep track. After I got a new phone a couple weeks ago, I finally activated The Bible Project app and have been listening to the podcasts there and I love it! It's interactive, meaning there are links or graphics or definitions that pop up on the screen as the guys are discussing them in the podcast.

I was also so blessed by the beautiful poem Grammar Lesson: State of Being on View From the Valley. This was part of the Five Minute Friday Writing Challenge, and while I often love the writing this group of bloggers shares while taking five minutes or so to write on a one-word theme, this is one that really stuck with me.

Something Braved or Something Saved

Last summer, we had new flooring put in our kitchen and dining room, and this year it was time to get new flooring in the basement. We had a flood almost exactly a year ago, and among the casualties was the carpet in the basement rooms. We've been puttering away at the cleanup and redo of the rooms, and knew we wanted vinyl flooring down there but it took until last week before we actually got that project rolling. We went to Lowe's to pick out the color and style we wanted, and then realized that there was NO possible way we could bring it home in our vehicle! I don't know why we hadn't figured that out earlier, but anyway. Grabbed photos of the one we decided on, went home, and ordered online. All the materials were delivered yesterday and the friend we're hiring to do the work will get started tomorrow!

Something Achieved

This will be a bit of a repeat of last month's achievement, so bear with me! I've continued physical therapy as I'm recovering after the full knee replacement I had on June 30th. It is hard work and often painful to coax my knee to bend as far as it needs to so that the scar tissue doesn't hamper movement. All my lazy, out-of-shape muscles protest the exercises that seem like they should be simple movements. But I'm proud of myself for sticking it out and enduring the discomfort so that I can be more active and hopefully get into better shape again.

Rejoicing with you on beautiful Aubrey's arrival! I'm looking forward to seeing your new basement floor pictures. Clapping for you as you persevered through another month of physical therapy. May the Lord continue to give you grace as you exercise and heal.

Your granddaughter is precious and it is a blessing you get to see her often. I could hold a baby all day every day :) Good for you for continuing with your physical therapy and not letting the pain stop you, it is so important! I pray that you continue to improve and get back full range of motion.

Rejoicing Kym over your new granddaughter!!! Congratulations on your new flooring in the basement, and a BIG commendation on sticking with PT for that knee replacement. My husband had both knees replaced, so I know it is a long, tiresome journey, but worth it!

I often fret about house decor decisions. We finished our basement a few years ago and I was nervous about the flooring I picked out, but it looks great. And I felt quite accomplished.
