Homeschool Weekly: Changing Seasons Edition

In our homeschool... Our goal was to try and get back to more of a normal school schedule this week, since Landon was finished working, and we didn't have a lot of things on the calendar during the daytimes. It's been quite the change of pace compared to the last month or so! For the most part it worked out okay, with both Landon and Kennady doing most of their work independently.

Landon finished up the unit he was working on in World History, and finished reading The Cat of Bubastes. He spent time working on his Essay Rock Star assignment, and got started on the Practical Drafting course.
Kennady started on the next set of countries in Geography. If I remember correctly, they are Moldova, Romania, and Bulgaria. We scrapped the 'sketch the Parthenon' art project for Greece, and instead made some Greek theater masks.
She also worked on Literature, Math, and Science. See this story she wrote? I gave her a hard time about not separating the paragraphs! It was a good story though!

In other news... There are all kinds of changes and updates going on around our house. We are getting a new roof, so the materials were delivered this week.
Spencer bought a new TV and  Blu-Ray player so the boys were busy rearranging furniture and in the hallway upstairs to make that work. Not sure yet what we'll do with the old TV. Spencer was going to give it to me, but I'm not sure where to put it in my room, so we'll have to see what winds up happening.
And we finally got back to work on a redecorating project in the family room that we started almost a year ago! Shame on us! We had most of the room painted, but stalled when it came to moving and rearranging the piano and a large wall unit. Well, today we painted, and tomorrow when the wall is dry, we will move the piano and wall unit to their new places. Just in time for the piano to be tuned on Monday.

One of my favorite things this week... we celebrated the birthdays of the oldest two boys on Thursday evening by taking them out for barbecue. Their birthdays aren't until next week, but with all our busy schedules, Thursday was the only night we were all free!

On my blog this week...

On the bookshelf...

  • The Brickmaker's Bride - Judith Miller
  • Song of Redemption - Lynn Austin
  • She Walks in Beauty - Siri Mitchell
  • Robin: Lady of Legend - R.M. ArceJaeger

A parting shot... The birds have been flocking to the ornamental grass seed instead of to the bird bath recently.
