Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . We certainly didn't do any schoolwork this week, but while on our mini-vacation, we visited a conservatory and I told Kennady that if she would write an essay about it and maybe do some artwork, we could count it as the field trip for her botany unit.

Other news . . . We attended Christmas Eve service on Saturday night; then came home to play games, enjoy snacks, and open our presents.

Sunday morning we went to church and then were able to spend the rest of the day with more games and just relaxing, and we had our big turkey dinner in the evening. We also got ready to head out for a trip to Columbus to visit Harrison and Angela and baby Veronica and celebrate Christmas with them. We left on Monday morning, and we spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday in Columbus. Harrison was able to take one day off work so that the whole family could be together in honor of Christmas and my birthday. I chose to go to one of my favorite restaurants, The Melt, for a late lunch.

Then we all went to the Franklin Park Conservatory for awhile, and enjoyed the poinsettias and other gardens. Since we went late in the day, it was harder to see all the plants in the glass houses, and hard to get good pictures, but pretty neat to see it all lit up for Christmas.

We spent the rest of the evening playing some games and hanging out and Harrison and Angela's place. On Wednesday, we got to take a quick tour of Harrison's workplace - RadioU!

We headed home on Thursday, and Spencer and I are back to work today.

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week was a quiet one on the blog, but I've been reading:

That sandwich looks delicious, and the Franklin Park Conservatory looks like a fun place to visit! The poinsettia and blown glass trees are neat.

I love going to conservatories - especially in the winter when its still warm inside and snowy outdoors! We didn't do much school-isn this week either. LOL!

The blown glass ornament tree is really neat! We took the week off the play with our new "stuff" this week, so no school here either!
