Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . .  it was Kennady's second week at her summer job, and I think it's been a better week for her overall. It makes it a challenge to expect schoolwork, but she did squeeze in a few No-Nonsense Algebra review lessons, so I'm satisfied with that.  As for me, once I had to change the calendar page to August (whaaaaat???) it struck me that I needed to turn my attention back to preparing for the co-op classes that start in just a few weeks! I'm hoping to devote a couple of days next week to completing my lesson plans for that and for our own coursework.

Other news . . . Last weekend didn't seem to have much on the calendar, but we kept very busy nonetheless. On Friday evening, we all went to a party for the church softball team, as Landon has played this season and families were invited. It rained (to be accurate, it stormed) most of the day and evening, so the party was moved indoors and was more about eating and visiting than about playing volleyball and swimming, but we had fun.

Saturday was pretty low key, but we did go to a party that evening as well. On Sunday afternoon, the hubster and I decided to go walking at the Great Falls Tavern C&O Canal park. We took Kennady with us and despite a disagreement over just how difficult a trail we were prepared to hike we had a good time.

The hubster and I celebrated an anniversary this week - hard to believe, but it's been thirty years since this picture was taken!

Kennady and I made a point of going into town on Landon's Civil Air Patrol night so we could be there for promotions, and for the Change of Cadet Commander ceremony.

The ceremony is where this happened.

This week was also the 4H Fair in our county, so the kids have gone to those events several times.

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed The Healers Apprentice by Melanie Dickerson. My review of The Merchant's Daughter by Melanie Dickerson is coming, and I've been reading:

Egypt's Sister: A Novel of Cleopatra by Angela Hunt
The Red Siren (Charles Towne Belles) by MaryLu Tyndall
The Fairest Beauty by Melanie Dickerson

A parting shot . . . Spencer mowed the lawn on one of the days I was home. I looked out the window and thought for sure it was David Crowder!
