One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is the idea behind Five Minute Friday and this is today's free-writing post.
need time to adjust
adjust course

I think of adjustment as just a little tweak. not a big change. It's mostly right, but needs a little adjustment. We're headed mostly in the right direction, but need to veer just a little bit to the left or right to make sure we're staying on course to reach the destination.
The thing about a course adjustment is that it might be a change of just a degree or two north or south here, but if you continue without that little adjustment for miles and miles down the road, you'll end up very far away from your target.
Another thing about adjustments is that even though they may be small, they can still hurt. like the chiropractor. That little 'crack it back into alignment' is just a small adjustment to my spine, but it gives me a twinge before it brings relief!

A small incremental change can be uncomfortable, but it might mean a big difference further down the road.
These are times when we all are making adjustments - some are big like being out of work or having to do college online. Some are tweaks, like not going out for dinner or going grocery shopping only once during the week instead of picking up something every other day. Some of the adjustments are painful and we are counting on them being temporary - like not being able to gather at church.
My family is trying to adjust our thinking every day to make the right choices, strike the right balances, and believe that these adjustments and bigger changes will make a positive difference and that many of them are just temporary.

Lots of wisdom in this post, particularly about not the neccessity of making often seemingly small adjustments in a timely manner. Sounds like you have the right attitude to cope during these uneasy times. Stay well!
There's an island in the distance,
somewhere out beyond the dawn.
Do not take the least resistance,
do not bet your life upon
the direct path to the destination,
rather, offset, south or north,
nd in this, your estimation,
start the motors, sally forth!
When you reach appointed hour
you will know which way to turn;
time will not leak out, so sour
as the last of fuel you burn.
Thank ye all olde island sailors;
their experience is your saviour.
This, from the practice of Polynesian ailors to offest north or south on long voyages; on reaching the right longitude, they knew which way to turn. This was followed by early aviators, crossing the vat Pacific wastes (see the writings of P.G (Sir Gordon) Taylor).
I love your comment about adjusting your thinking; I think it is more important than adjusting our actions. That's because when we adjust our thinking, the right actions fall in line.
I'm still in the process of adjusting..trying to find the balance between safety and just living life. The coming militancy that I see I don't like... already one of the closest big towns to me has instituted a snitch line where people can complain about other people who they don't think are following self-isolation properly. I don't like that aspect of current adjustments. Currently I just feel very sad about it all. visiting from FMF 31 today.
I don't like the trend towards martial law either! And the snitch line is so, so wrong!!
