I know we did not do this great composer justice this week. We read about him in A Young Scholar's Guide to the Composers, and did the worksheets. And we listened to the CDs of his music that I have. But I had laryngitis at the beginning of the week, so I avoided reading aloud. Not just with the music, but the other subjects too! I think I may find another book or two on Mozart and study his life and music a little more next week. We may be taking a mini-vacation the second part of the week, so I think a little extra time with Mozart may be wiser than shortchanging Beethoven as well. (Especially as Beethoven is a big favorite of mine!)
I found it a little odd that the kids didn't like Mozart's music as well as they liked some of the other things we've done. Maybe we just haven't listened to the "right" things so far. I found this from The Piano Guys on YouTube - their little nod to Mozart. I love their stuff - unique to say the least!
Practices continued for the childrens Christmas musical at church (Kennady) and for my community choir's Christmas concerts. I was mostly a warm body at choir practice this week, since I didn't have a voice! Better to have laryngitis now than on the performance date, I guess!
