Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . Since we were away on the weekend, this has been a significantly shortened week for school. Or at least it feels significant, even though it was really only Monday that was a missed school day. I know I had zero motivation on Tuesday, and I think Kennady felt the same. Still, we did our best to get some Science, Math and History done. Grammar and Composition have been the casualty over the last couple weeks, as we're shifting focus to Literature and a Lightning Lit study of Shakespeare for an upcoming review.

I'm changing up how we'll show the History credit on Kennady's transcript this year, so that took a little pressure off. It was becoming increasingly unrealistic to get through everything in the World History/Bible/Literature course, so I figured out a way to restructure so that we'll do the course over two years, but still earn the necessary credits.

Other news . . . Last Friday morning, Kennady was already on her way to the beach with friends, while the rest of us had to work that day. Then I had to be at our homeschool group's graduation ceremony in the evening, and Landon was at a minor league baseball game in which the color guard from CAP presented the colors.

Early Saturday morning, Landon and the hubster and I headed out to join our friends at Bethany Beach. We shared a vacation house and had a wonderful time, although the cooler weather and wind kept everyone out of the water for the most part. For some reason the girls still couldn't get enough ice creams - I would have thought they were cold enough already, but whatever. Kennady even added a new ukulele to her collection.

a little self-conscious?

We came home on Monday evening and tried to get back into our routine, with limited success. Regular choir practice, guitar lesson, youth group, and worship team practice helped.

Now we're working on being prepared for the upcoming weekend, when Harrison and Angela and Veronica will be home!

What I loved this week . . .

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and will be reviewing All in Good Time (The Gilded Legacy) by Maureen Lang, and I've been reading:

Wings of the Wind (Out From Egypt) by Connilyn Cossette
Love's Rescue by Christine Johnson

A parting shot . . . Mopey Mop is not impressed with your shenanigans.

The beach looks inviting; even if it was a bit cool.

Did your daughter have a ukelele? Mine plays one as well! It is so nice to be walking through the house doing clean up chores and hear ukelele music coming from her room. Whenever she plays it, it is a sign that she is in an especially good mood. I enjoyed your post!

It's always interesting to see what others' weeks are made up of :) Thank you for sharing!

Yes, it was beautiful and a great weekend, despite the cool weather!

Yes, Kennady now has four ukuleles and I think four guitars too. She plays all the time and is pretty talented.

Thanks, all, for stopping by and commenting and/or linking up! (If I haven't visited your link yet, I will!! I've been so busy lately and got behind)
