Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This bi-weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.
If you would be interested in taking over this link-up, please let me know! I've loved hosting you, but because my youngest has graduated and my schedule is changing, I would love to pass the baton to someone else.
I'll be publishing an anchor post every other week, and the link-up will be open for two weeks. You may link more than one post!

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!
My coffee last week was from Tim Horton's and it was to go!
This week's news . . . Let's see . . . what have we been busy with since the last edition of Highlights? That Friday evening, Kennady and I drove to a nearby town to see her good friend in a play. It was excellent, and such a nice evening out! The play was about Lady Jane Grey and her nine day reign as queen of England. Kennady's friend played Lady Mary who became Queen Mary I once Lady Jane had been removed. She had such a lovely regal bearing that was perfect for the part!
After a fairly quiet weekend and a couple of uneventful days at work, I spent last Tuesday evening at home doing laundry and packing my suitcase instead of going to choir. I was coming down with a cold, and I had to get ready for my trip to Winnipeg. Even so, I was up too late on Tuesday night considering we had to leave for the airport at 4am on Wednesday!
I did feel pretty miserable at that early hour, and things didn't improve as I spent the next several hours on planes and in airports. The worst was that as we landed in Minneapolis, my ears popped and didn't open up again until Friday. Friday!!! Aside from that, I had a wonderful time visiting my aunts and parents as we celebrated my aunt's 90th birthday.
Welcome to Manitoba?! |
Did some baking and did a whole lot of eating in Canada!
I arrived home very late on Sunday evening, and then Monday morning it was back to work! I did have a very pretty sunrise to start the day.
Monday evening was another big family dinner, but possibly the last one for a little while. Or at least the last one on Monday, as the kids' new semester of college classes means a change to their schedules. Hopefully another evening will work out as a big family dinner night, and maybe it will be on a day when I'm not at work during the day, which might make my meal planning a little bit easier!
I was able to get back to choir this week, back to teaching at the co-op after a week off, and back to some usual activities such as Wednesday night Bible study group and Thursday afternoon coffee date.
Although my work schedule has now changed to Mondays and Tuesdays, I did say I could fill in on some Fridays if needed, and it turns out I was needed today. That's why I'm posting this late in the day instead of in the morning.
What I Loved . . . Visiting some old stomping grounds and spending time with family - so many happy and life-changing memories in these places and with these people!
Got to drive by and see the house where my Grandma and Grandpa lived about thirty years ago! |
I recommend . . . locking in your price at SchoolhouseTeachers.com today, as it's the last day for the Fresh Start sale! Use the code ONLY99 to lock in at $99/year or ONLY12 to lock in at $12/month. Homeschool Highlights guidelines:
- Your blog should be family-friendly content, and your post should include something about homeschooling. If I don't see homeschooling in it, I might have to delete the link, and I feel bad when I need to do that.

- Please include a link in your post to Homeschool Coffee Break - you may use the graphic above if you wish.
- Visit a couple of the other bloggers and comment or share.
