Last week I wrapped up the school year in terms of the curriculum and classes. Today I think I'll take a few minutes to review the school year in photos.
Shopping for school supplies! Last time as a high school student.
We started off the school year and then immediately took a short vacation to southern Ontario. We met up with my sister and her daughter and spent a few days at Niagara Falls and the area. My niece was going to university in Ontario and this was our chance to spend some time together. You can see a whole bunch of pictures of our adventures (most counted as field trips!) in these photo collections:
When we got back we got down to business with co-op and other classes.
At least until the end of September, when it was time for a family vacation to Florida.

These could be considered field trips, right?
In the US History class at co-op, there were several art projects given as assignments, like this one Kennady did to illustrate Amendment XIX.

We didn't have time available for regular guitar lessons this year, but Kennady played plenty on her own and with worship teams, and when we reviewed Guitar 360 Method she got some instruction time in with that.

Another co-op class assignment was to design your own book cover for Moby Dick.

We also turned a lot of our unit reviews in History class into game shows.

In my Creative Writing class at the co-op, we learned about Elements of Creative Writing - in Christmas Specials.
An ongoing art project Kennady completed on her own time: Blurryface Collection

In second semester, she started Consumer Math.
We reviewed Victus Study Skills in the early spring, and I think it was really helpful! She's already got her student planner for college. I'll have to remind her to get it out and start using it though.

Speaking of college, she attended an Open House and a preview day to get her thinking seriously about classes.
A quick reference to careers related to music that was provided by the college. |
More Writing class fun - learning about parrallelism, illustrated well by quotes from Dr. Seuss!
We talked about Themes and watched the movie WALL*E in class, paying attention to the possible themes in that movie.
Throughout the year, Kennady worked part-time at a music shop and got to keep all the guitars tuned, and work on pianos.
Creative Writing class also watched Up! and analyzed the Hero's Journey plot line in it.
This artwork honoring the 1960s Space Race was for History class.

We also payed impromptu games of "Who Wants to be a History Major?" (based on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?) in History class. The students played the game show music on a phone, and their favorite part of this kind of review is using the lifeline to call friends for 'help' with the answers.
Spring concert with Children's Chorus |
For the last weeks of co-op class we reviewed the Hero's Journey plot outline and then watched Tangled.
The final Children's Chorus performance for Kennady was the Bach in Baltimore concert at the beginning of May.
And the final History project for co-op was this American history timeline.

From the High School Lesson Book - A Year-End Summary for 2018-2019 is where you'll find the academic summary of our school year.
And A Graduation PhotoJournal features lots of photos of Kennady's grad ceremony.

And this beautiful young lady is also celebrating her eighteenth birthday this week!
I couldn't be more proud of her and all her accomplishments, and I'm so honored to be her mom and her teacher.
